In case you missed it, CBS released a new poll highlighting how good Americans feel about the economy. Here are the key takeaways from the poll:
- More than 70 percent of Americans think the economy is booming. Along party lines, a majority of Republicans, Democrats, and Independents believe the economy is doing fantastic.
- More Americans are giving President Trump’s pro-growth economic policies the credit for the success of today’s economy. The poll shows that 85 percent of Americans believe that President Trump’s policies are partially or mostly responsible for the economy.
Unfortunately for Amy Klobuchar, that spells bad news for her campaign stops in Iowa this weekend. During an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, the Minnesota Democrat refused to give the president credit for the current state of the economy – despite past instances where she credited then-President Obama for small boosts in the economy during his tenure in office.
But Iowans have seen the proof of a booming economy in their own paychecks. According to the Tax Foundation, Iowa families saw an average tax cut of $1,431 with nearly 2,300 jobs added as a result.
“Amy Klobuchar will have a tough time dispelling theories that the economy is booming when Iowa families continue to see the results in the news and their paychecks. Unfortunately for Klobuchar, Iowans see through the drivel of a failing candidate desperately trying to grasp at straws to save her campaign – and bad-mouthing the president’s role in a booming economy won’t help her at all.” – RNC Spokesperson Preya Samsundar
