President Joe Biden faced criticism after referencing “Iraq” instead of Ukraine when talking about the war against Russian President Vladimir Putin. Biden said Putin is “clearly losing the war in Iraq” and he made a similar mistake at a fundraiser on Tuesday night.

USA Today, though, reported that Biden said Putin is “losing the war at home.” Twitter added a correction to USA Today’s attempted cover for the Commander in Chief.

“While presented as a direct quote from the president, he actually said Putin was ‘losing the war in Iraq, losing the war at home,” Twitter wrote.

USA Today defended its decision to run cover for Biden, noting the partial quote is within their guidelines.

In addition to USA Today, Bloomberg reporter Jenny Leonard cut Biden’s quote short. And again, Twitter added a missing context label to it.
