One of the bills pre-filed for the 2025 Iowa Legislative session is a prohibition on Ranked Choice Voting and Instant Runoff Voting.
Secretary of State Paul Pate’s office proposed the legislation. It prohibits either method from being used to cast a ballot or tabulate a ballot in any election in Iowa — including elections for local government.
