The events unfolding in Afghanistan are tragic, revealing the incompetencies of the current administration and the need for strong leaders who will put the safety and security of Americans and our allies first. With the Taliban takeover in Afghanistan, the dwindling presence of American troops, and the abandonment of thousands of U.S citizens and allies, the American people are left with questions that deserve answers.
Why did President Biden push for the withdrawal of United States troops who were successfully meeting the original strategic goal of denying safe haven for terrorists while preventing future terrorists threats to the United States?
Furthermore, why did Biden move forward with the White House deadline to evacuate American troops from Afghanistan by August 31st, despite key intelligence assessments consistently informing policy makers that the Taliban could overwhelm Afghanistan and take the capital within weeks of such a decision?
Why did the United States abandon a secure military airbase of 20 years that could have been used to conduct evacuations, but is now left in the control of the Taliban? And most importantly, why did the DOD fail to put the proper evacuation mechanisms in place, leaving tens of thousands of American citizens and Afghan allies and families abandoned?
I can’t understand why we would pull the military out before our own citizens. The United States has left these innocent people as hostages to brutal Taliban terrorists. I am running this campaign on an America first agenda, at home and abroad. The Biden administration left American citizens behind. This level of heartless incompetence needs to be held accountable.
