On Thursday night, Senator Joni Ernst received unanimous support from her Senate colleagues for her amendment to prevent a $15 federal minimum wage hike during a global pandemic, a move that could kill jobs for lower-wage workers and severely burden Iowa small businesses and rural economies that are facing unprecedented challenges amidst COVID-19.

Below is a statement from Senator Ernst:

“Tonight I got the entire Senate—Democrats and Republicans—to agree not to hike the federal minimum wage to $15 per hour during a global pandemic, which would kill jobs and destroy small businesses.”
