U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) on Friday made this statement on the International Criminal Court (ICC) issuing an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin for war crimes carried out by Russia in Ukraine.
“The decision by the ICC to issue an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin is a giant step in the right direction for the international community. It is more than justified by the evidence.
“To forgive and forget Putin’s war crimes – that are occurring on an industrial scale – would irrevocably damage the Rule of Law-based world order established at the end World War II.
“While I have no illusions that Putin will ever turn himself in, this arrest warrant is extremely significant because it’s an action of an international evidence-based body that will stand the test of history. It will also make Putin’s travel options in the future very limited.
“I hope President Xi, a communist dictator who plans to meet with Putin next week, understands that he is openly embracing one of the worst war criminals in history.
“I hope the international community will continue to support the ICC in their endeavors to hold Putin accountable for the brutal invasion of Ukraine.”
Anybody know how much money Grassley and the rest of them get from defense contractors? It would be nice to know. NATO provoked Russia by moving ever closer to its borders after promising in 1990 that it would not. Then it armed Ukraine to the teeth, put bioweapons labs in Ukraine, and looked the other way while the Nazis in Ukraine murdered 15000 ethnic Russians in the Donbas. Russia finally intervened to save these people, and Putin is the war criminal? The US blew up the Nordstream pipeline (unless you buy the lie that it was 6 yahoos on a rented yacht), and it is Ukrainian forces who are murdering Russian POWS, torturing some, and permanently disfiguring their faces before sending them back to Russia. The Ukrainian army sports SS Totenkopf (death head) insignia on their uniforms, and many of them have swastika tatoos. These are the “freedom fighters” that the US is supporting. Grassley should be ashamed of himself. DC is lying to the American public about this conflict.
