State Sen. Jesse Green released the following statement regarding a judge’s order to block an Iowa law prohibiting school districts from requiring masks for students:

“We now have another example of unelected judges creating chaos and division among our citizens from the bench. Judge Robert Pratt has single-handily reversed the will of Iowa voters and is denying Iowans the ability to choose what is best for their children.

“Parents should be able to take their child’s share of per-pupil funding to a learning environment that reflects their health and education needs. I feel terrible for administrators, school boards and teachers across the state who will now have to focus more on keeping a civil environment at their meetings, maintain civility among parents and consequently lose focus on what their mission is — which is to provide a quality education. I wholeheartedly oppose this decision.”
