On Tuesday, U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) was recognized by the National Taxpayers Union (NTU) for having one of the strongest and most consistent fiscally responsible voting records in Congress. Lummis is committed to bringing back fiscal sanity in spending that is bankrupting future generations.

“As Senate democrats continue their unchecked spending spree, it is more important than ever that the people of Wyoming have a fiscally conservative champion in their corner. We have a responsibility to Wyoming taxpayers and future generations to be good stewards of their hard-earned money and invest in creating a bright future for our children and grandchildren, not saddling them with insurmountable debt. I have long believed balancing the budget is the cornerstone of a strong economy, and I am honored to receive an A rating from NTU for my support of fiscally responsible policies,” said Senator Lummis.

“In 2022, Congress once again approved massive and excessive spending bills, while generating legislation like the Inflation Reduction Act that will continue to weigh heavily on taxpayers. In this historically challenging environment, taxpayers should know that Senator Lummis championed sustainable spending levels, a pro-growth tax environment, and limited government. National Taxpayers Union thanks Senator Lummis for her strong fiscal voting record on behalf of the people who pay the government’s bills,” said Brandon Arnold, Executive Vice President of NTU.

Lummis is one of only six senators to earn the “Taxpayers’ Friend Award” for her voting record during 2022. NTU scored senators on 75 votes when creating the 2022 scorecard which is designed to calculate a senator’s voting record on fiscal responsibility by evaluating every vote that has an impact on tax, spending and regulatory policy. This year, Lummis scored 92% on the group’s rating scale.
