The House Committee on Homeland Security released its November “Startling Stats” factsheet, reflecting the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data for November 2024. According to CBP, inadmissible encounters nationwide totaled 125,238 last month, bringing total encounters since FY2021 to over 11 million. For comparison, 3.1 million inadmissible aliens were encountered at our borders from FY2017-2020.

The Biden-Harris administration’s historic border crisis continues to devastate communities across the country and lead to the abuse of the most vulnerable. Despite the administration touting lower numbers this month, the never-ending flow of inadmissible aliens into our country remains at crisis levels. In an attempt to deceive the American people, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have simply shifted inadmissible encounters to ports of entry using their mass-parole programs––effectively hiding the crisis in plain sight. In fact, 62% of the 125,238 nationwide encounters in November were at ports of entry; in November FY2022, only 15% of encounters were at ports of entry. CBP revealed that 43,000 inadmissible aliens were processed through the CBP One app at the Southwest border in November—overall appointments scheduled through the CBP One app now exceed 904,000. Further, the Biden-Harris administration has paroled more than 531,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans through the CHNV mass-parole program. Make no mistake––both the CBP One and CHNV mass-parole programs are unlawful, despite being sold to the American people as “lawful pathways.”
Amid this shell game, unaccompanied alien children (UACs) are suffering at the hands of cartel smugglers and traffickers, whose destructive business model is empowered by the Biden-Harris administration’s open-borders, anti-enforcement policies. At the Southwest border in November, CBP encountered 6,463 unaccompanied children. A heartbreaking video posted in November showed an unaccompanied two-year-old girl, who crossed the border in a large group, holding only a piece of paper listing the phone number and name of the individual law enforcement were to call upon taking custody of the child. Days later, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) interrupted the smuggling of a five-year-old girl from Mexico. Border surveillance video showed the girl being carried across the Rio Grande by an adult man. The child’s mother, a temporary resident in North Carolina, admitted to paying $8,000 to a smuggling group. Tragically, unaccompanied alien children who are released into the United States are still at risk due to the failure of this administration to properly vet their sponsors. In a November joint subcommittee hearing, Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) whistleblower Tara Rodas testified that gangs, traffickers, and smugglers essentially use the United States’ UAC program as a “white-glove delivery service of children.”
