Earlier this week we told you about a discussion on the Iowa Democrat Party Facebook page in which individuals talked about Democrats crossing over to register as Republicans on the night of the caucus to deal Donald J. Trump a defeat.
The Trump campaign, though, believes same-day registration can work to its benefit. During a call with volunteers on Friday, the campaign noted that same-day registration is allowed and presents an opportunity because Trump appeals to a “very wide base of supporters,” which includes unaffiliated voters and “a ton” of Democrats.
Volunteers were encouraged to get Democrats to head to the Republican Caucus and register as a Republican that night to support Trump.
Interesting. I was on that call and don’t remember hearing that.
