President Donald J. Trump emerged from the Iowa Secretary of State’s poll at the Iowa State Fair with 57.41 percent of the vote. All four Republican candidates defeated their Democrat challengers as well.

Interestingly, Trump received 77 fewer votes than the four Republican congressional candidates combined. On the other side, Vice President Kamala Harris received 75 more votes than the Democrat congressional candidates.

Trump finished with 1,874 votes while Harris recorded 36.03 percent (1,176 votes). Robert F. Kennedy Jr. secured 3.92 percent (128 votes) while Chase Oliver, the Libertarian candidate, registered 2.63 percent (86 votes).

Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks beat Democrat Christina Bohannan in the First District. Miller-Meeks earned 356 votes (60.96 percent) while Bohannan garnered 192 votes (32.88 percent). Libertarian candidate Nicholas Gluba hit 6.16 percent with 36 votes.

Congresswoman Ashley Hinson collected 66.74 percent (303 votes) while Democrat Sarah Corkery received 33.26 percent (33.26 percent).

Congressman Zach Nunn won the third district poll with 58.63 percent (910 votes). Democrat Lanon Baccam got 37.18 percent (577 votes). Libertarian Marco Battaglia took 4.19 percent (65 votes).

Congressperson Randy Feenstra received 63.67 percent in the Fourth District with 382 votes. Democrat Ryan Melton’s 181 votes gave him 30.17 percent. Libertarian Charles Aldrich took 6.17 percent with 37 votes.

“We hold the State Fair Straw Poll each year to promote voter registration and participation in Iowa’s general elections,” Pate said. “Voting is important in ensuring Iowans’ voices are heard and I encourage every eligible Iowan to register to vote.”
