Two of Congresswoman Lauren Boebert’s amendments passed the House and will be included in the final version of the Financial Services and General Government appropriations bill for Fiscal Year 2024.

Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (CO-03) said, “Honest, hardworking Americans, who dutifully pay their taxes, should never bear the financial burden of Joe Biden’s border crisis, or fund bonuses for an IRS that has been weaponized against them. Some big wins for the Third District are in the House Financial Services and General Government appropriations bill. I will continue to work hard on behalf of the American people I represent.”

Here are the two amendments of Congresswoman Boebert that passed the House:

Boebert Amendment 40 – Prohibits the use of funds made available by this Act to be used to provide financial assistance to Sanctuary Cities. Sanctuary city policies directly violate the Rule of Law outlined in Article 1, Section 8, Clause 4 of the U.S. Constitution, which grants Congress jurisdiction over immigration matters. A nation of laws must prioritize the enforcement of established laws rather than seeking ways to circumvent them. Sanctuary cities disregard federal statutes by harboring illegal immigrants, including violent criminals. The proposed amendment aims to restrict the use of funds from the Act in contravention of section 642(a) of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996, prohibiting sanctuary policies obstructing law enforcement’s sharing of immigration status information.

Boebert Amendment 41 – Prohibits performance awards or bonuses for senior executive service employees at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Joe Biden has weaponized the IRS against the American people. The IRS under Biden has received $80 billion to build an army of 87,000 armed IRS agents for audits and enforcement and have even gone as far as monitoring bank accounts for transactions over $600. The IRS has deviated from its mission to serve taxpayers and has instead become a tool for targeting middle and low-income families and small businesses with audits and draconian enforcement activities.
