On Tuesday, The Wall Street Journal published an article regarding the Covid-19 Outbreak that further proves the Covid Origins lab-leak theory that U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. has been investigating for years.

“I will not rest until the truth of the origins of this virus are revealed. We owe it to the over one million American families who lost a loved one, and to our youth who were locked out of schools, and the millions of hard-working Americans who lost their jobs or businesses due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” Senator Marshall said.

Senator Marshall has been leading the charge in Congress to get to the bottom of the Covid-19 Origins and make sure it never happens again. In April of 2023, Sen. Marshall released the Covid Origins Muddy Waters Report that showed a preponderance of evidence proving that Covid-19 began in a lab in Wuhan, China. Senator Marshall also uncovered through his investigations that the United States was being double billed for gain of function research grants in Wuhan, China through EcoHealth Alliance.

Highlights from the Wall Street Journal article include:

“Not only should we better monitor the scientists and types of research we support but we must reform the U.S. global research grant administration to ensure oversight, transparency, and accountability,” Senator Marshall said.

“Ben Hu, a scientist at the Wuhan Institute of Virology who had done extensive laboratory research on how coronaviruses infect humans, was identified in U.S. intelligence reports as one of the researchers who became ill in November 2019 with symptoms that American officials said were consistent with either Covid-19 or a seasonal illness. None of the researchers died.”

“The U.S. intelligence community is planning to declassify more information regarding its search for Covid’s origins as soon as this week, under a law that Congress passed and President Biden signed in March.”

“Hu is noteworthy, current and former officials say, because of his central role in coronavirus research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Further, some of the projects he worked on were funded by U.S. government grants, according to documents acquired through the Freedom of Information Act by the White Coat Waste Project, a nonprofit that opposes taxpayer funded research on animals.”

“Hu is a leading researcher on coronaviruses who worked closely with Shi Zhengli, the leading expert on bat coronaviruses at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Much of Hu’s research focused on modifying coronaviruses so they could bind to human cells.”

“The Government Accountability Office noted in a report last week that some of the research at the Wuhan Institute was funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development and the National Institutes of Health. Between 2014 and 2019, about $1.4 million was disbursed for work at the institute by both agencies before such grants were suspended.”

Senator Marshalls Leadership On Uncovering the Origins of Covid-19:

  • In April, Senator Marshall released a bombshell COVID-19 Origins report in conjunction with the Muddy Waters Group, Dr. Bob Kadlec and 117th GOP HELP Committee Staff.
  • This 300-page report is the cumulation of findings and research conducted for more than two years. The report has over 1500 citations to corroborate its findings. You may click HERE to read the full report. Additionally, you may click HERE to read an executive summary of the report.
  • In March, Senator Marshall discussed his call for a full investigation into EcoHealth Alliance’s contributions to Chinese research and double billing the U.S. Government on Fox News, watch HERE.
  • In September 2022, Senator Marshall Uncovered Records that Show EcoHealth Alliance Materially Violated Grant Requirements, Failed to Disclose COVID-19 Research at Wuhan Institute of Virology.
  • In 2021, Senator Marshall released a multi-step path forward on getting to the bottom of the origins of COVID-19 and holding China accountable for its actions surrounding the earliest days of the outbreak.
  • Senator Marshall introduced the Chinese Communist Party Accountability Actto place sanctions on the top two Chinese health officials with early ties to the COVID-19 outbreak who obfuscated actionable information; the Viral Gain of Function Research Moratorium Act to place a moratorium on all federal research grants to universities and other organizations conducting gain-of-function research and risky research on potential pandemic pathogens; and theNational BioSecurity Improvement Act to ensure federally-funded research involving potentially dangerous pathogens does not compromise national security.
  • The Senator introduced a resolution calling for a bipartisan Select Committee to investigate the origins of COVID-19.

Senator Marshall was the first U.S. Senator to demand answers from the DOD and HHS on possible COVID-19 infections of U.S. Army troops who participated in the 2019 World Military Games in Wuhan, China, from October 18-28, 2019.
