Yesterday we told you about an “incentive program” VGM Group of Waterloo announced for its employees.
“Based on CDC guidance that COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective at reducing the spread of the virus, as well as minimizing the severe health risks of infection, VGM is encouraging employees to receive vaccinations,” said a press release sent out by the company.
“It is our responsibility to ensure that we optimize the safety of our workplace and that we minimize the possibility of the spread of any illness or virus among employee-owners and customers,” said CEO Mike Mallaro.
VGM said it is offering six chances to win $1,000 throughout July. It is not requiring vaccinations, tracking employee vaccination status and is in no way penalizing employees who elect not to be vaccinated.
Originally, The Iowa Standard was told by a source that VGM announced a $1,000 giveaway for six people to motivate the company to all get vaccinated and if they reached out to an employee who could prove they’re fully vaccinated within 24 hours, they would get the $1,000.
We asked VGM if all employees are eligible or only those who are fully vaccinated.
We were told that every employee is eligible.
