Congressman Lee Zeldin, the Republican candidate for governor of New York, was attacked during a campaign event on Thursday night near Rochester.

Zeldin was giving a speech at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post when an individual jumped on stage and began to shout at Zeldin before wrestling with the congressman and pulling out a blade.

According to WROC, AMVETS national director Joe Chennelly stopped the suspect. Chennelly is running for a state assembly seat.
