State Sen. Jim Carlin delivered remarks from the floor of the Iowa Senate in honor of Rush Limbaugh on Wednesday:
“We’ve all listened to him for decades. He was somebody who understood us, he empowered us, he brought a lot of things to light for us. In my mind, he resurrected the Republican Party during the 90s for us. And, you know, any time we listened to him on the radio he’d make you laugh, but at the same time he shared our convictions and it was like being with a good friend every time you turned his show on.
“I just want us to keep his family in our prayers and just say thank you Rush for all you did for freedom and conservatism and elevating regular, everyday people and raising a level of consciencenous of the core values of the things that made this country great.
“We tip our hat to you for all the work and all the commitment you’ve shown. The courage you showed while you battled cancer and you still got on the show. We just say thank you today.”
