Infamous Iowan Nikole Hannah-Jones, the creator of the 1619 Project, said last month on Meet the Press that she is not a “professional educator.”
It is an interesting revelation from Hannah-Jones, who announced last summer she would be joining the Cathy Hughes School of Communications at Howard University as a tenured faculty member.
Hannah-Jones is also going to create the Center for Journalism and Democracy, which sets out to train and support student journalists in investigative skills and analytical expertise.
During the interview, Hannah-Jones also said she doesn’t “really understand this idea that parents should decide what’s being taught.”
Her 1619 Project has been a topic of discussion across the country due to its faulty representation of certain aspects of American history.
