Iowa Sen. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) rolled out an interesting endorsement in his race for Congress on Wednesday. He highlighted the support he’s receiving from Iowa Rep. Megan Jones (R-Sioux Rapids).

The question Republican primary voters in Iowa’s most conservative district have to ask themselves is if they’re comfortable having a Congressman supported by Rep. Jones when taking into account her voting record.

Just in the last few years Jones has voted:

*against the sanctuary counties/cities bill;

*against a bill that came about because a Christian group demanded folks in their group adhere to Christian principles;

*against judicial nominating commission changes;

*against a budget that would take sex education money away from Planned Parenthood;

*against a budget that would prohibit taxpayer dollars from being used for sex-change surgeries.

Jones also gave a thumbs up on Facebook to an article posted by The Iowa State Bar Association. The article talks about a member of the judicial nominating commission joining the lawsuit against the Republican-passed legislation making slight changes to the commission.

It’s the same legislation that Jones voted against.

Jones explained her no votes on the HHS budget and the judicial nominating reform, but the reality is a pattern has developed. And it isn’t a good pattern.

Feenstra has already earned the label of “establishment candidate” in the congressional race. Championing an endorsement from someone with this voting record is ill-advised when running for Congress as an “effective conservative” in perhaps the most conservative Congressional district in America.
