Priorities for Iowa, Inc., an Iowa-based organization, has launched a six-figure ad buy in support of school choice legislation that Governor Kim Reynolds and legislative leaders champion. The ad, which notes that Iowa has increased school funding by over $1 billion since 2012, says that parents also need a choice in education. This significant ad buy represents just one of the ways Priorities for Iowa is taking action this year.
School choice isn’t a zero-sum game. It has the potential to raise the quality of all schools. We want every school, public or private, to strive to be the best it can be. Because when our schools succeed, Iowa becomes a destination for parents everywhere. – Governor Kim Reynolds
The ad will run across the state on broadcast and cable television as well as on digital media platforms. The script can be found below:
GOVERNOR REYNOLDS: Nothing’s more important for our kids than their education.
GOVERNOR REYNOLDS: That’s why we’ve increased school funding by almost a billion
GOVERNOR REYNOLDS: But money alone isn’t the solution. Parents also need choice.
GOVERNOR REYNOLDS: To send their kids to whatever school is best for them…
GOVERNOR REYNOLDS: …Regardless of income or zip code. So when children dream about…
GOVERNOR REYNOLDS: …What they want to be… Every parent can afford to say, “I’m going to help you get there.”
