Earlier this week we told you about a situation at Linn-Mar High School that has caused some uncomfortable moments for students. The Iowa Standard reached out to Linn-Mar for comment on the situation on Tuesday, but nobody from the district has responded.

Sources told The Iowa Standard the teacher goes by Mx. instead of Ms. In addition, the teacher has worn a dress or dresses that have created a distraction for some students due to circumstances. Finally, the teacher had a transgender pride flag draped around their back as well.

Linn-Mar’s staff directory lists this specific teacher, but no picture is made available. We have requested the official photo of this employee used by the district for identification purposes.

District policy states:

Appearance: The board expects employees to conduct themselves in a professional manner appropriate to the educational environment and, as such, employees will be well groomed and dress in attire appropriate for their position. Clothing should be neat, clean, and free from inappropriate graphics. Discretion and common sense call for an avoidance of extremes which would interfere with or have a detrimental effect on the educational process.
