A whopping 73 percent of likely U.S. voters told Rasmussen Reports they believe it is likely green card holders — permanent, legal U.S. residents — left behind in Afghanistan will be used as hostages by the Taliban. That includes 48 percent who said it is very likely.

Just 16 percent it is unlikely the Taliban will use Americans as hostages while 11 percent said they are not sure.

Secretary of State Anthony Blinken admitted on Monday “several thousand green card holders” were still in Afghanistan after the disastrous withdrawal. Senator Ben Sasse called it a “national humiliation.”

Seventy percent of voters agree with Sasse’s quote — that it is a national humiliation. Fifty-one percent said they strongly agree. Just 25 percent disagree.

Eighty-seven percent of Republicans and 70 percent of unaffiliated voters agree, as do 56 percent of Democrats.
