***This was one of the most popular stories of 2021 at The Iowa Standard. As things slow down here near the end of the year, we like to look back at the articles that led to the most discussion here at The Iowa Standard. Muhammad is still listed as a Student and Family Advocate at Ames High School.***
A screenshot was sent to The Iowa Standard showing a Facebook post allegedly from Jean Muhammad, a Student and Family Advocate in the Ames school district.
According to the screenshot, Muhammad said:
“Want a quick glimpse into *our* interracial marriage?
Me-Going to give Abdullah a kiss goodnight, ‘Okay, I’m going to bed…’
Abdul-singing in his reggae voice, ‘I say we kill da white people…’
Me-Laughing hysterically, ‘Okay, love you.”
Abdul Muhammad spoke during the Ames board meeting in support of the Black Lives Matter Week of Action at school.
The upcoming indoctrination includes telling students that “white people hate protests,” that everyone has a right to choose their own gender and that preschoolers should be able to define terms like “transgender” and “nonbinary.”
It will also provide much, much more indoctrination than just that.
The Iowa Standard reached out to board member Gina Perez, who was asked if what sort of statement she has for such a post.
“I am not comfortable commenting on that,” Perez said.
We also asked if she received our email containing questions about the upcoming BLM Week of Action. She confirmed she received it. We asked if she was going to answer any of those questions.
“I have no comment,” she said.
The district’s office has a message saying it closes at noon due to COVID.
