Senate File 83 prohibits instruction on gender identity used in K-8 classes for Iowa schools. If a district, accredited nonpublic school or charter school violates the prohibition, a parent or guardian of a student may bring a civil action for injunctive relief against the offending party.
The bill is sponsored by Republican Sen. Jeff Taylor. Fifteen fellow senators signed on as cosponsors.
