The Canadian government has issued a warning to the  “2SLGBTQI+” community when it comes to visiting America. Canadians were warned they could be impacted by recently passed laws in certain states that are restrictive.

“Some states have enacted laws and policies that may affect 2SLGBTQI+ persons,” the notice reads. “Check relevant state and local laws.” (The beginning of the Canadian government’s acronym, “2S,” represents two-spirit, an Indigenous term for someone with a masculine and a feminine spirit.)

The warning was added to a brief notice of a long list of travel warnings that already included cautions regarding gun violence and terrorism when it comes to visiting America.

According to reports, a spokesman for the department cited certain states banning drag shows, restricting the transgender community’s access to sex-change operations and efforts to protect women’s sports.
