Last week, America First Legal’s (AFL) co-counsel Wally Zimolong sent a letter to the Gettysburg Area School District on behalf of AFL’s client, Michelle Smyers, who is an elected school board member of the District, warning the District and its lawyers to stop obstructing Ms. Smyers’s performance of her lawful duties.

The District’s lawyers told Ms. Smyers that she could be held “personally liable” in a suit brought by David “Sasha” Yates, a biological male “transgender” coach who allegedly disrobed repeatedly in front of the members of the girl’s tennis team if she were to vote for his dismissal. Although Ms. Smyers has a well-established legal right to all records needed for her to study, investigate, discuss, and argue problems and issues related to her official duties, the District and its lawyers illegally denied Ms. Smyers Yates’s employment records.

America First Legal and Wally Zimolong will continue to fight for parental rights and to protect students from the insidious transgender movement.

Statement from Reed D. Rubinstein, Senior Counselor and Director of Oversight and Investigations:

“America First Legal and Wally Zimolong stand shoulder to shoulder with Michele Smyers and any other school board members throughout Pennsylvania and our nation who are willing to fight for transparency and parents’ rights. We will fight to protect the rule of law and our children from woke school bureaucrats and their lawyers,” said Reed D. Rubinstein.
