This week, State Rep. Charley Thomson announced his candidacy for re-election to the Iowa House, dedicated to building upon the impactful legislative strides made during the previous session. Thomson, a steadfast advocate for District 58, is committed to addressing pressing issues that directly impact the lives of Iowans.

In the past session, Charley Thomson and the House GOP Caucus achieved significant milestones, but the work is far from over. His re-election campaign will focus on key priorities, including eminent domain reform, protecting Iowans from government overreach, defending the rights and well-being of the unborn, rejecting divisive and obscene ideologies in schools, combatting the alarming rise in fentanyl-related deaths, and forbidding, once and for all, Communist Chinese ownership of Iowa land.

Preventing Chinese Communist Party purchases of Iowa farmland is just one step Charley has taken toward defending Iowa landowners. He has also been a leader in the General Assembly of efforts to force pipeline companies to follow the letter and spirit of the law.  As an attorney-legislator, Charley represented a group of 20 Iowa legislators who petitioned for (and won) the right to intervene before the Iowa Utilities Board to help make the case for small landowners along the proposed route of the dangerous supercooled carbon dioxide pipeline.  The efforts of Charley and his allies in the Iowa House led to the passage of HF565, aimed at protecting farmers’ constitutional rights and the safety of all Iowans.

Thomson expresses gratitude for the continued support from District 58 residents and invites them to join him in the next chapter of their shared journey. As he seeks re-election, Charley emphasizes the importance of collective community engagement in addressing the multifaceted challenges that lie ahead.

“I am honored to have served the people of District 58 in the Iowa House. While we have accomplished much, there is still important work ahead. I am committed to advancing the fight for our values and the well-being of our community. I humbly ask for your support as we embark on this journey together,” said Charley Thomson.
