The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is taking aim at two Iowa representatives. Congressman Zach Nunn and Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks are being targeted for appearing with what the DCCC deems “anti-abortion” 2024 Republican presidential candidates.
It’s worth noting it appears the DCCC is abandoning trying to target or challenge Congresswoman Ashley Hinson.
The DCCC said Nunn’s campaign is “eagerly” joining events with the “extreme” Republican field. According to the DCCC, Nunn continues to refuse to say where he stands on killing unborn babies, but note his pro-life record “speaks for itself.”
The DCCC shared the following about Nunn’s anti-baby-killing stance:
-
Supported anti-choice legislation that would restrict health care access and potentially punish doctors.
-
Voted to allow states to ban abortion by blocking consideration of the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would have codified the reproductive freedoms Roe v. Wade guaranteed before the Supreme Court ripped them away.
-
Raised his hand in support of making all abortions illegal, with no exceptions.
-
Received an endorsement from SBA List in 2022, whose mission was to “end abortion.”
Miller-Meeks was also criticized for “cozying up to the extreme” field. The DCCC highlighted the following examples of Miller-Meeks not embracing the intentional killing of unborn babies:
-
Co-sponsored legislation that further chips away at abortion coverage for women with both private and public insurance.
-
Supported anti-choice legislation that would restrict health care access and potentially punish doctors.
-
Voted to allow states to ban abortion by blocking consideration of the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would have codified the reproductive freedoms Roe v. Wade guaranteed before the Supreme Court ripped them away.
-
Refused to protect abortion, contraception, and interstate travel for abortion.
-
Received an A+ rating from Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, whose mission was to “end abortion.”
