Church United, a group based in California to change and shape the moral culture of communities, released a video in 2018 in an effort to address a bill that would make any monetary exchange to help those with unwanted same-sex attraction an illegal business practice.

The video is called “I’m a Fraud.” The Iowa Standard is sharing this video because of a House subcommittee scheduled for the Iowa House Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m.

There are stories from eight different people about coming out of homosexuality.

“I want to talk to you today about my story of coming out of homosexuality,” said pastor Ken Williams. “When you hear about my childhood, you hear about pain. And that’s true of many people that find themselves with unwanted same-sex attractions.”

Neal Hardin said he grew up in a Christian home and became a Christian when he was 11. Shortly after he began experiencing same-sex attractions.

Elizabeth Woning said she came out as a lesbian in her 20s.

“I lived and loved being a lesbian,” she said. “I fully embraced that identity. I felt like I had been born that way. It seemed to explain why I was the way I was.”

Kris Olsen said she grew up with same-sex attraction, but she did not like the feelings.

Brian Barlow said his identity was who God said he was, that he was created male. But everything inside him told a different story.

Jake McHaffie said once he came to faith, he felt like he needed to address it.

Richard Thomas said he used to live a gay lifestyle.

“I was a broken man,” Thomas said. “As you get older, you find out who you really are.”

Pastor Jim domen reached out to a therapist asking for help to leave the homosexual lifestyle. He said he told the therapist that he wanted to leave the homosexual lifestyle because it is so harmful and so destructive.
