Americans for Prosperity-Iowa (AFP-IA) on Monday night praised passage of SF 619, another positive move for Iowa families and the state’s economy. As the Senate moved the bill off the floor, House leadership was already signaling support for the newly agreed-upon language in the bill.

AFP-IA activists have long advocated for a more comprehensive approach to tax reform at the state level which includes both broad reductions to tax rates and a decreased dependency on incentives and carve-outs for well-connected groups and industries.

AFP-IA State Director Drew Klein released the following statement after the bill’s passage:

“The strength of Iowa’s economy is no accident. It’s the result of legislators stepping up in recent years to create a pro-growth environment by restraining the growth of unnecessary regulations and creating real opportunities in communities from river to river. Accelerating the adoption of 2018 income tax cuts, delivering new relief to property taxpayers, and phasing out the remnant of our state’s inheritance tax represents one of the best ways to ensure an even better tomorrow for all Iowans.”
