Dr. Fauci is in trouble.
According to a new poll from Convention of States Action and the Trafalgar Group, provided exclusively to the Morning Wire, 46.3% of Americans think it is time for Dr. Fauci to resign.
While only 17% of Democrats are ready for Fauci to leave his position, 58% of Independents and 76% of Republicans say they want him to do so. The poll does not indicate exactly why this is, but one thing is clear; the American people are sick and tired of being dictated by the federal government.
Dr. Fauci is an unelected bureaucrat – arguably the most powerful in modern history – and for months he has been making serious decisions that have invasively impacted even the private lives of nearly every American. Even if, at the start of the pandemic, Americans weren’t particularly concerned about this abridgment of their freedoms, it is no surprise that they would eventually tire of it, especially considering Fauci’s ever-changing expectations.
“A lot of the frustration aimed at Dr. Fauci appears to stem from a perception of shifting standards,” the Morning Wire suggested, “such as his rhetoric on masks, vaccines, and social distancing. His popularity also seems to have dropped after his contentious appearances before Congress where he appeared to lie about the government’s role in funding Gain of Function research in China.”
Whatever the reason, it is apparent that an increasing number of Americans have had enough of Dr. Fauci. After decades in his current, well-paid position, it seems unlikely that he will resign or give up his power, but thanks to Article V of the US Constitution, there is something We the People can do about it.
By calling a Convention of States we could forever limit the power, not just of Fauci, but of the entirety of our Federal government. It certainly won’t limit its own power; it’s time for us to do it.
