On Wednesday, a Twitter user posted a screenshot of a comment on the platform allegedly from an account of Mayank Sharma, who was listed as a Pediatric Cardiology Fellow in the graduate medical education program at the University of Iowa. The comment on Twitter was shocking.

“Well I hope you lose your kid in a school shooing (sic), already you have nothing to lose, it won’t matter to you anyways! Prepare for your kids (sic)  funeral”

Prominent Twitter profile Libs of TikTok was tagged in a post, and shared it on their page. The post from Libs of TikTok has been viewed more than 533,000 times as of 2:27 a.m. Thursday.

Sharma’s comment was allegedly directed at a Trump supporter.

Sharma’s Twitter account appears to be removed. Sharma has also been removed from the Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship program page at the University of Iowa. Here is a link to the current page.

Here is a link to the page from August. Sharma was listed on the page as of Wednesday evening.

The Iowa Standard reached out to the University of Iowa for comment early Thursday morning. We’ll include their response when we received one.

The University of Iowa provided the following statement:

“The university is aware of the situation and is reviewing the matter in accordance with our policies. The University of Iowa strongly objects to violence.”
