Representative Chip Roy (TX-21) issued the following statement after his Protecting American Voters Act (H. R. 3162) passed out of the House Administration Committee on Thursday.

“Public confidence in the electoral process is an unquestionable cornerstone of any representative government. We will not keep this Republic if we cannot provide our fellow citizens reason to believe their votes matter and our elections are secure.

That’s why I introduced the Protecting American Voters Act, which ensures that States have access to the data needed to ensure that only U.S.  citizens are voting in our elections. I’m grateful for Chairman Bryan Steil and my colleagues for moving this bill through the House Administration Committee and look forward to its passage on the floor.”
