On Thursday, Representative Chip Roy (TX-21) issued a statement on the Laken Riley Act:

Today, I voted for the Laken Riley Act. A bill that would simply ensure federal immigration officials detain illegal migrants that commit certain crimes. I’m glad this bill also contained language I introduced with Representative Bishop to ensure states can sue this administration for its failure to enforce immigration laws.

The honest truth is that Laken Riley would still be here today if not for radical progressive Democrats’ open border policies. 170 of those same radical progressive Democrats voted against this legislation, effectively endorsing the status quo of Americans dying at the hands of legal migrants.

Enough chaos. There’s more for Congress to do to secure the border, and we should not stop until it is.
