Mariannette Miller-Meeks had a rough weekend after video surfaced from a 2018 event showing her claiming to be “pro-choice” and stating that abortion is a decision “best left to providers, to doctors, and to patients.”
Bobby Schilling, Republican candidate for Congress in the Iowa 2nd District, responded by releasing the following statement:
“I’m calling on Mariannette Miller-Meeks to do one of two things:
1.) Clarify her position on abortion today. Commit to sponsoring and supporting Rep. Steve King’s Heartbeat Protection Act bill. This will provide pro-life voters with the peace of mind to be able to vote for her in November should she happen to be the nominee.
Or, if she is unwilling to do that…
2.) Drop out of the race immediately. The Republican Party is a party that defends life. Period. If Miller-Meeks can’t do that, she needs to step aside for lying so egregiously on such an important issue.”
