One day after the Ankeny School Board voted to require masks of its students, Ankeny High School provided slides in each class not on math, reading, science, social studies or anything else academic — but on masking.

Here are those slides, which must have been put together overnight after the district voted to put the mandate in place. Considering the school board did not vote on the mandate until the late evening on Tuesday, Sept. 21, the fact someone put these slides together in time for Wednesday, Sept. 22 would certainly make one wonder if the board hadn’t essentially already let its intentions be known prior to voting at the board meeting. But how could the board know its intentions unless it discussed district business outside of the proper board meeting setting? Perhaps that is another conversation for another day.
