This Veterans Day, we call special attention to the Americans from our state and every state who have worn the cloth of the nation in defense of freedom.

About 200,000 US military members are serving outside of the United States on this holiday. Currently, Zach Nunn is among them, serving overseas in a joint training exercise called GLOBAL THUNDER with US forces and allies. The training is one testament to the enduring strength and peace earned by prior generations of American warriors.

Happy Veterans Day from the Friends for Zach Nunn Team!

Three Big Things About Veterans in Iowa:

Iowa is home to 203,277 veterans. Some of them are less open to sharing stories about their time serving, so never underestimate the number of fellow former service members living nearby. Their experiences add strength and valor to all of Iowa’s 99 counties.

8.6 percent of Iowa adults are military veterans.

Each of Iowa’s 99 counties has a County Commission of Veterans Affairs that consists of three to five veterans identified by the county’s Board of Supervisors.
