Tuesday will be a big day in the Iowa Senate. A subcommittee focused on religious liberty starts the day while there are many other interesting topics. One bill would allow people 72 or older to be excused from jury service. A couple bills deal with immunizations. A bipartisan bill regarding hemp is up as well. The day will end with sports betting and fantasy sports conversation.

SF 240: Senate File 240 was filed by Sen. Dennis Guth. It has 15 additional cosponsors. It’s an act relating to the standard of judicial review and providing a claim or defense when a state action burdens a person’s exercise of religion.

SSB 1138: Senate Study Bill 1138 was proposed by Sen. Brad Zaun. It’s an act relating to excuse from jury service for persons at least 72 years of age.

SF 239: Senate File 239 was filed by Senators Dennis Guth and Brad Zaun. It’s an act providing for exemptions from immunization for a person’s enrollment in any elementary or secondary school or licensed child care center.

It’s an act relating to hemp, including the regulation of hemp, providing for enforcement and the confiscation and destruction or disposal of certain property, providing for fees, making appropriations, including penalties.
