Iowa Senate Democrats turned to Sen. Sarah Trone Garriott to attack pro-life efforts in the state. After Tuesday’s oral arguments in the Heartbeat Bill hearing, Trone Garriott (a “minister”) released the following statement:

“Despite years of legal precedent and wide public support across political affiliations for reproductive freedom in Iowa, an extreme faction of anti-choice Republicans won’t stop until they have a total ban on abortion.

“The tactics change, but the goals remain the same: a small group of politicians are obsessed with denying essential healthcare and stripping away fundamental freedoms for Iowans.

“Senate Democrats trust Iowans to make their own choices about their own bodies and their own futures. Politicians have no business in the doctor’s office interfering with private medical decisions.”

Note that Trone Garriott, a “minister,” refers to killing unborn babies as “reproductive freedom.” She could finish that thought — with something a bit more honest like “reproductive freedom to kill unborn babies,” but she doesn’t.

And she calls pro-life Republicans “anti-choice.” She also called pro-life Republicans an “extreme faction” of the GOP.

She calls the ability to kill unborn babies “essential healthcare” and a “fundamental freedom.”
