Former Iowa Governor and one of 20 Republicans highlighted who “sold out” to China, Terry Branstad, holds roles with two groups that seem to be in total conflict with one another.
Branstad is the honorary chair of a group called the American Free Enterprise Chamber of Commerce. You can see him featured prominently here:
The group has a supposed “Bill of Rights.” And the fourth principle is:
PRIVATE PROPERTY RIGHTS MUST BE PROTECTED.
“Free economies owe their success to the fact that a significant portion of resources are owned by individuals and corporations rather than by the government. Real, financial, and intellectual property rights must be secure. Patents, trademarks, and copyrights must be observed and protected. The owners of property exercise control over their capital and its allocation, the means of production, and the right to freely exchange it.”
That is rich.
Why? Because Branstad is also in cahoots with Summit Carbon Solutions for a carbon capture pipeline project that hopes to seize private property through eminent domain for its private, for-profit project.
Branstad is the “senior policy advisor” for Summit Carbon Solutions.
We sent an email to the American Free Enterprise Chamber of Commerce asking about Branstad’s role with the organization, his role with Summit and the use of eminent domain for these carbon capture pipelines. We were hoping to receive their response prior to publication, but we did not hear back. When we receive their answers, we will publish an update.
