President Donald J. Trump was the final Republican candidate for President to take the stage on Friday night in Des Moines at the Republican Party of Iowa Lincoln Dinner.
Trump immediately launched into his accomplishments.
“Iowa has never had a better friend in the White House than President Donald J. Trump,” he said. “I made a lot of big promises to the people of this great state, and as your President, I kept every single one of those promises.”
Trump said he gave farmers billions of dollars from the tariffs he placed on China. He highlighted the USMCA trade deal and said China bought $50 billion worth of American farm product.
“Unlike the establishment globalists in this race, I have been an unwavering warrior for Iowa ethanol and I will remain your ethanol champion,” Trump said.
He hit Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for fighting against Iowa ethanol. Trump took credit for making E-15 available year-round and fueling pumps were increased where E-15 could be sold.
Trump said he was responsible for keeping Iowa “First in the Nation” in the GOP presidential process. He said he created the strongest border in U.S. history.
He called his economy the “greatest economy in the history of the world.” When he mentioned his Supreme Court justices, he drew applause from the crowd.
Trump said the abortion issue should be left up to the states and he supports exceptions for babies conceived in rape or incest or if the mother’s life is in jeopardy.
“Remember, the Democrats are the radicals on this issue,” he said. “They’re willing to kill babies in their fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth month and they’re willing to kill babies even after birth. They are the extremists. They are the radicals.”
He touted his foreign policy record, noting he fully rebuilt the military, defeated ISIS and was the first President in decades who did not start a war. Trump said the Afghanistan withdrawal likely led to Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
“The 2024 election is our last shot to save America,” he said. “And there’s only one candidate — and you know who that candidate is — who is going to get the job done.”
Trump pointed to various polls, and said he wouldn’t take a chance on DeSantis.
There were more than 200 counties that flipped from voting for Barack Obama twice and backed Trump — including 31 counties in Iowa.
“Despite four years of deranged opposition, we did even better the second time than we did the first time,” Trump said.
Trump said the 2020 Election was rigged, but we would not allow them to rig the 2024 Election.
“They used COVID to cheat,” Trump said. “I will obliterate the Deep State. We will say no on 87,000 IRS agents who want to take your money and much worse than that. I would immediately cancel every single open borders policy of the Biden Administration. On day one I will sign an executive order to cut federal funding for any school pushing Critical Race Theory, transgender insanity and other inappropriate racial, sexual or political content on children. I will keep men out of women’s sports… And I will sign a law prohibiting child sexual mutilation, can you believe we even have to say this, in all 50 states. I will fully secure our elections. I will defend the Judeo Christian values of our nation’s founding.
“Together we will crush Crooked Joe Biden, the most crooked President in the history of our country by far, and also grossly incompetent, doesn’t know what he’s doing. He’s destroying our country. We will win the election big and we will make America great again.”
