On Thursday, U.S. Senator Mike Braun reintroduced two bills that would preserve the sanctity of life, the Parental Notification and Intervention Act and the Dignity for Aborted Children Act. These bills add to the long list of Pro-Life advocacy Sen. Braun has already championed during his time in the Senate.

Senator Braun has an A Rating from the Susan B Anthony List and a 100% voting record from the National Right to Life Action Center.

“Hoosiers put their trust in me to stand up for the unborn, and that’s what I’ve been proud to do every day in the Senate. These are just two more solutions I’ve introduced to preserve the dignity of life.” – Senator Mike Braun

The Parental Notification and Intervention Act requires parental notification and the opportunity for parental intervention for abortions conducted on un-emancipated minors. This bill applies to any person or organization affecting interstate commerce or that solicits or accepts Federal funds to perform, assist, or provide facilities for abortion. The Parental Notification and Intervention Act is supported by Students for Life Action and Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee.

“Abandoning minors to predatory adults trying to make an abortion sale or to those who may be abusing a child to facilitate an abortion is a mistake so obvious it’s tragic that we need a law to address this. Young girls are in no position to decide whether they should have a potentially dangerous procedure or take deadly drugs without their parent’s guidance and supervision. Their vulnerability is why minors are not permitted to sign contracts or make life-altering decisions, as peer pressure is a potent force. Such a life and death decision needs the point of view of those who prioritize a child’s best interests for a lifetime. We applaud the efforts of Senator Mike Braun in reintroducing the Parental Notification and Intervention Act that requires parental notification for abortions conducted on unemancipated minors — children whose parents are involved in their lives. We know that Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in America, has a history of covering up sexual and domestic abuse, as well as applying pressure tactics to sell their number one product — death by abortion. This Parental Notification and Intervention Act prioritizes protecting young girls and their pre-born children from the exploitation of abortion in America by including people who care more about her than about making a profit or covering up a potential crime.” – Kristan Hawkins, President of Students for Life Action

The Dignity for Aborted Children Act requires abortion providers to dispose of the remains of unborn children just as any other human being. The bill establishes civil and criminal penalties if a providers fails to dispose of the remains properly. The Dignity for Aborted Children Act is supported by Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, Students for Life Action, Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee, Family Research Council.

“Treating human beings as trash to be thrown into landfills, to be burned as fuel, or to be flushed into America’s wastewater is both heartbreaking and despicable. The Dignity for Aborted Children Act recognizes the inherent value of human life and seeks to affirm the dignity of the preborn in death, requiring their careful handling by burial or cremation. Children lost to miscarriages are treated with dignity, but children who die in an abortion do not receive the same respect. Students for Life Action firmly supports this bill to treat the bodies of aborted babies as the human beings that they are, to be treated with care in death despite the deliberate act, which ended them.” – Kristan Hawkins President of Students for Life Action and Students for Life of America
