Informed Choice Iowa is only in support of HF889 + SF610 IF the necessary amendments are made. Without amendments, this bill will be catastrophic for the people and a crime against their God-given rights to bodily autonomy and privacy.

Contact the house leadership and all House Representatives demanding this be amended, or to kill the bill.

It is utterly unacceptable that any freedom-loving legislator would support a bill that would require compromise on their God-given and constitutionally protected rights. These rights are not subject to change based on the time we are in, they are to be upheld ALWAYS.

Tell them to amend the medical exceptions out of this bill. Tell them to provide protection for employees because the private sector does NOT have more authority than the Constitution.

More on HF889/SF610:

Seeks to prohibit vaccination information pertaining to covid 19 from being disclosed on an identification card issued by the state. Prohibits a business or governmental entity from requiring a customer/patron/client/patient/or person who is invited onto the premises of the business or entity to furnish proof of having received a vaccination for Covid-19. Those who violate this law will not be awarded grants or contracts that are funded by state revenue.

*does not apply to healthcare facilities, this defeats the whole purpose of having this bill. People are already being inhibited from going into a healthcare facility over masks even with medical exemptions to them. Codifying this language only sets a precedence and condones healthcare facilities to ask for proof regardless of if that person is a patient or not.

*does not address IRIS being utilized to confirm vaccination status, violating the individual’s right to privacy and potentially leading to discrimination
*does not apply to employees at said entities, violating their individual right to medical privacy and bodily autonomy

We would encourage our legislators to add additional provisions to this bill to protect the rights of employees and to protect our medical information from being stored in a state registry without our consent, but most importantly we will NOT support this legislation with any exceptions.

Call the Capitol and ask for Speaker Grassley- every hour!
