The American Federation for Children, the nation’s voice for educational choice, congratulates all the Iowa candidates supported by the American Federation for Children Action Fund during Tuesday’s primary election. The AFC-AF invested more than $257,000 in state races to support school choice proponents during the 2022 primary.
School choice was a keystone issue during Iowa’s 2022 legislative session, with Governor Kim Reynolds demonstrating determined leadership. Despite comfortably passing the Republican-led Senate, their colleagues in the Iowa House again came up short in passing one of the nation’s more expansive Education Savings Account programs this year. Due to this inaction, voters across Iowa spoke at the ballot box by selecting candidates who will support giving families more control of their child’s education.
Of Tuesday’s successful AFC-Action Fund-supported candidates, four were challengers to anti-school choice incumbents.
