On Friday, Cindy Axne released the below statement following a hearing held in Iowa’s district courts to determine whether the State of Iowa can implement its fetal heartbeat law and ban women from receiving abortions after six weeks of pregnancy:
“Today, an Iowa court heard arguments about whether the state can move forward with one of the most extreme abortion bans in the country and ban abortions after 6 weeks of pregnancy.
This hearing confirms the unfortunate reality that women in Iowa and across America are at risk of having their rights stripped away.
Make no mistake, Republicans all over the U.S. – including my opponent Zach Nunn – are doing their best to make sure these invasive laws that will prevent women from making their own medical decisions are passed in every state.
It couldn’t be more clear – a vote for a Republican is a vote to take away your rights,” said Rep. Cindy Axne.
