Last week, the Omaha Press Club expressed interest in hosting a 2024 Republican primary election debate in Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District between incumbent Congressman Don Bacon and primary opponent Dan Frei. Dan Frei accepted the opportunity, but the Bacon campaign declined indicating “Congressman Bacon will not be debating for the primary.”

Nebraska 2nd District Republican candidate Dan Frei challenges Congressman Don Bacon to a primary election debate saying, “As I walk the district and talk to voters, many of those voters feel ignored and unrepresented in Congress. I can understand why Congressman Bacon doesn’t want to be challenged on his voting record, but his constituents deserve an opportunity for a fair and civil debate.”
