Ankeny families are planning a protest prior to the Ankeny School District board meeting this evening.

The protest is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at 306 School St. in Ankeny.

The board meeting is supposed to follow at 5:30 p.m.

“We want to make it known we are holding them to account before their decision making at the board meeting,” the Facebook page for the event says.

The group has signs for those who do not have their own.

“Our children have scars we can’t see,” the post says. “We need to take a stand now before more damage is done!”

The group also plans to protest at the Polk County Health Department the third Friday of every month until the Polk County Health Department removes its recommendation for mask mandates for schools.
