The Iowa Standard filed an open records request with the Dallas Center-Grimes School District after GLBT Youth in Iowa Schools Task Force (Iowa Safe Schools) held professional development training.

GLBT Youth in Iowa Schools Task Force has been a controversial organization. It also misused thousands of taxpayer dollars.

Earlier this month the group spent the day at Dallas Center-Grimes. According to this photo, the group shared information that LGBTQ identities are “not” a choice or an “illness/disorder;” can’t be “fixed” or “repaired;” have been documented in many cultures and are “normal aspects of human identity.”

The Iowa Standard reached out to the Dallas Center-Grimes School District to ask for any public records related to the presentation — including audio, video, recordings, handouts, etc.

However, superintendent Scott Grimes said the district cannot produce requested documents because there were no handouts, video, etc. from the presentation.
