Stand for America, a PAC that is backing Nikki Haley for President, has accused Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis of using taxpayer money for presidential campaign activities. The PAC accused DeSantis of “blurring the lines” between official state business and his presidential campaign.

WESH 2 reported that two taxpayer watchdog groups have said Florida taxpayers deserve answers and may deserve reimbursement from the DeSantis campaign.

“It’s also probably that DeSantis is charging his security detail, hotel stays and more to the state of Florida, but due to a law he signed last month, it’s impossible to know for sure,” a release from SFA, Inc. said.

SFA said that DeSantis signing a bill precluding him from relinquishing his role as governor to run for President was “dishonest and pointedly partisan.”

“Now more than ever, American voters need transparency in government, especially from someone looking to hold the highest office in the world,” said Mark Harris, Lead Strategist for Stand For America. “How can Americans trust Ron DeSantis when he used his authority to seemingly hide his use of taxpayer dollars for his presidential campaign?”

Despite the concerns raised by SFA, DeSantis is the only alternative to Trump with any traction thus far in Iowa.
