Earlier we told you about Waterloo West government teacher and city councilman Jonathan Grieder, who used the Las Vegas shooting a few years ago to “teach” his students about terrifying, horrific gun violence.
In 2018, Grieder wrote the following about Father’s Day:
“I’m about to finish my first Father’s Day as a dad. Frankly, it was great. We drove home over eight hours from Minnesota after vising family and relaxing by the lake. While eight hours is a long time in a car, I got to be with Kristi and hear Nora chatter and watch her sleep. #injustice
“Today I got to hold her, talk to her and change not one, but two blow out diapers. And it’s all worth it because she’s amazing and wonderful and previous. I got to spend my day with my daughter and I am so thankful. #injustice
“But 2,000 other families didn’t today because their children were stolen by the weak, morally bankrupt and evil policies coming out of D.C. and the Trump White House. #injustice
“Children my daughter’s age are being stolen from their parents for the crime of being born, for the terrible tyranny of wanting a better life by any means necessary. It’s unconscionable and it’s disgusting. #injustice
“We have a long history of stealing children; whether slave children at the auction block, Native children sent to boarding school, or Japanese American children forced into camps because of ‘national security.’ #injustice
“It sickens me that so many have turned a blind eye and it makes me weep. But my tears won’t heal the hurts or repair broken families. Action will. So I will continue to call Joni Ernst, Chuck Grassley, Rod Blum and White House switchboard until something is done. #injustice
“I will continue to support and donate to organizations like the ACLU that are seeking legal action to end this injustice. And I will pray and hope that we one day return to our better angels, our foundational ideals as a nation. #justiceforall.”
In a separate post, the government teacher used #NotMyPresident while calling the Trump Administration “liars and thugs.”
“Despicable, evil and false. There are no laws, none, that force the separation of children and parents. That is a Trump policy that could be easily fixed by a simple policy rewrite. They’re liars and thugs and will be judged harshly by history.”
