The Iowa State Education Association president Mike Beranek released a statement in defense of teaching Critical Race Theory on Wednesday.

The statement reads as follows:

Republican Rep. Dean Fisher shared the post on Facebook.

“(Beranek’s) words are a testimony to just how corrupt our public education system has become,” Fisher said. “He does not speak of educating our children in math, reading, writing, science, etc. He does not speak about teaching our children how to be productive citizens. He only speaks of their perverted version of ‘confronting injustice’ and their desire to ‘reshape our nation.’

“Reshape it into what? And who gave them authority to ‘reshape our nation’ using the taxpayers’ dollars? No one! They are abusing their responsibility to the people.”
